Our Story

Our story with lighting began as early as 1952 when our founding father, Mr. Ihsan Al Hayek, established the first lighting and electrical accessories company; HAYEK ELECTRIC CO. based in Kuwait, and in 1965 in Abu Dhabi. The company hosted the most renowned European lighting firms and was involved in many prestigious projects such as the Palaces and Villas of Al Sabah Ruling Family, and many other government and private projects.

Under his initiative, HAYEK ELECTRIC CO. achieved many significant Government Projects, such as:

 

  • The Kuwait University
  • The Ministry of Health
  • The Amiri Diwan
  • The Central Bank of Kuwait
  • The Kuwait Finance House
  • Al Ahli Bank of Kuwai

Over 40 Years of Lighting Experience

In 1982, Eng. Akram Ihsan Al Hayek graduated from the University of Nottingham UK with an Honors Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

 Having done 6 months of intenisive lighting training and design with the renowned Austrian firms Zumbotbel and Tridonic and attended many seminars and workshops with industry leaders such as BEGA, Wella, Hoffmeister and Martini. Eng. Akram was the General Manager of HAYEK ELECTRIC CO. Up to 1990. Thereafter, started his own lighting company HAYEK LIGHTING LLC. He was involved in the design, supply and commissioning of an extensive number of projects accross the Middle East. 

He became the First Middle Eastern Engineer qualified to program the EIB/KNX home automation system after attaining his certificate from DIAL, Germany in 1997 – KNX Partner #2513
